The Education Committee is composed of five council members, who oversee the affairs of the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education. It is dedicated to the development of local education, cultivation of human resources, and enhancement of educational welfare. .
Local Education Development, Human Resources Development, and Educational Welfare
First, we are committed to raising the competitiveness of the local education system by developing new education policies, proposing alternatives, and supporting the education programs for gifted students, with the aim of nurturing talented individuals with a creative mindset who can play leading roles in the global era.
Second, we will put forth our best efforts for Daejeon to emerge as indisputably the best education city by proposing education policies that minimize the education gap among different areas of the city and schools in order to deliver balanced academic and character education in both the old and new city centers.
Third, we will ensure the safety and cleanliness of school facilities by building nature-friendly green schools, undertaking projects to improve the educational environment to reduce the gap between school facilities, and implementing a green school project. In addition, we’ll heed the voices of those in the education field when deliberating on the important matters related to education and academics.
Lastly, we will integrate all of our capacities, as a representative body of the citizens of Daejeon, to lead the progressive advancement of education in Daejeon. We will also keep the executive bodies in check and propose policy alternatives so that all 1.5 million citizens of Daejeon can be satisfied with the local education system. We will put forth our utmost efforts to engage in passionate city administrative activities that bring forth excellent results with positive impacts on citizens’ lives.
